Is it safe to fly …?
Robusto luggage takes a quick look at what to expect on your next getaway.
As the travel industry gradually comes out of its forced hibernation and tourists begin taking to the skies in search for a last-minute summer holiday, many people across the world will be asking themselves; ‘is it safe to fly?’
With so many new restrictions now in place both before and after you take a flight, we take a quick look at what to expect on your next getaway and how our luggage can make your journey that bit safer during these uncertain times.
Once you arrive at the airport, your temperature may be taken to ensure no-one travels with a fever and airports, in general, will expect you to wear face masks when within the terminal building.
You’ll notice a large number of staff meticulously cleaning every surface on a regular basis and hand sanitiser readily available if you need to wash your hands.
It’s important to keep socially distanced within the airport terminal, but also to avoid any unnecessary contact with surfaces that may have been handled by others. Although the luggage trolleys will be cleaned regularly, it’s obviously safer to carry your own luggage, so we’d advise travelling with luggage fitted with wheels to enable a smoother journey through the airport.
We’ve always believed in four wheels over two as it provides much more stability and manoeuvrability through a busy airport.
Once safely onboard your plane, you can be rest assured that all surfaces will have been fully disinfected before take-off, but all airliners will expect you to continue wearing your face mask throughout the flight (children under 6 will generally be exempt).
You’ll be expected to stow away your own luggage, so having a sturdy hard cover suitcase will make it easier to handle onboard when you can’t rely on others to help.
As for the onboard bistro, some airliners such as British Airways won’t be offering any food, whilst others such as Ryanair and EasyJet will be running a very limited service. You would therefore be advised to bring your own food and snacks for the flight and perhaps use a hard cover suitcase to protect them whilst in transit.
At Robusto luggage, we believe a hard shell suitcase is a much more effective way to protect your valuables, so all our suitcases are made from 100% Polypropylene:
These precautions are important to keep you safe in preparation for a flight, but what about the flight itself, is it safe to fly?
All modern planes are fitted with HEPA filters, the same filters used in most hospitals, so the air within the cabin is being recycled every couple of minutes and filtered, so that 99.7% of viruses and dust are removed. In summary, yes, it is very safe to fly and always has been!
Finally, once you arrive at your destination and collect your hold luggage, it would be advisable to clean the surface of your luggage to guarantee no possible transmission. Although your hold luggage would have been handled carefully and with improved cleanliness, it’s worth taking this extra precaution.
If you’re flying with a Robusto suitcase, our hard shell suitcases make this cleaning process much simpler, as the surfaces can easily be wiped down with some detergent and sponge or a disinfectant wipe.
So if you’re wondering is it safe to fly then you have very little to worry about. The travel industry has pulled together and created a very safe environment for any traveller now looking to jet off on their next adventure.
We believe our luggage will provide that extra level of safety and security during and after these uncertain times, so why not check out our online shop and make your next holiday that bit safer!
