When it comes to selecting hard side luggage there are three main types of materials to consider. You can choose from ABS, Polypropylene, Polycarbonate and Aluminium luggage - all of which have their advantages and disadvantages.
Some manufacturers focus on maximising profit by using poor quality material (ABS) to reduce cost.
It’s a fact that most of the top brands use polypropylene or polycarbonate when making luggage.
Ultimately the goal is to provide conscious travellers with durable luggage which helps offset some of the negative experiences associated with travel.

**How safe is your Suitcase?**

A TSA combination lock is a global security system that allows luggage to be locked, whilst permitting security authorities to open and inspect the contents, without damage to the lock or inconvenience to the passenger. With this type of lock special keys are issued to selected airport officials who can carry out the checks if they need to be done. This lock allows your luggage to be unlocked and inspected by security authorities without damage. Without one of these locks, suitcases are normally damaged if the airport personnel need to carry out an inspection.

**Do you need a Regular or an Anti-theft Zipper?**

You may be surprised to know it only takes a ballpoint pen to break into luggage with a regular zip.We don’t mean to scare you but a lot of theft takes place from passengers’ luggage.
There are two ways to address this issue, you can get a zipperless suitcase or you can get one with an anti-theft zipper. The former tends to be more expensive and those suitcase are also heavier.
Double coiled zippers offer similar security and stop people from tampering with your belongings, they keep them safe and secure, giving you the freedom to relax. These zippers represent the future of luggage security.

**What about the wheels?**

One of the the important things to consider when choosing a luggage is the number of wheels. Generally they either come with 2 and 4 wheels. To provide better stability and control we recommend luggage that comes with 4 double wheels for better handling.
It is important to note that while most wheels look similar, the difference in quality can be miles apart.
We recommend TPE or (Thermal Plastic Elastomer) wheels as they are specially engineered to provide superior durability and performance.
They can be branded TPE Wheels (Hinomoto Wheels) or Unbranded.

All this leads to the question “Is a more expensive suitcase a better suitcase ?”, the answer is, in most instances yes it does, and the better suitcase will last longer and offer you more.
